Will I lose my milk if I breastfeed at night and bottlefeed during the day?

My son is 8 months old, and we are starting to get to the point where he is just not interested in his breastfeeds during the day anymore, especially when we're out. Sometimes I feel like I'm forcing it on him. He does still have nightfeeds and loves his early morning and evening feed, as do I.

He will also start daycare in 2 months time, and will have formula there, as I find it impractical to express.

I really want to breastfeed at least part time for as long as I possibly can and as long as my son is interested, but I'm worried that I will lose my milk completely if I start switching him to formula during the day and only breastfeed at night. We will not switch to a bottle as he never took to it and I feel he is too old to start now, so he will have his formula from a straw cup.

Has anyone else breastfed at night and formula fed during the day? Were you successful in maintaining milk supply? And for how long? Did your baby keep his/her interest in breastfeeding at all?

I know everyone is different, but I'm just interested to find out what to expect.

My daughter is a year sense sept17th.. I only breastfeed in the evening before bed and she still wakes up twice at night for a feeding and early morning.. We still have our after noon feeding,but other than that she drinks cow`s milk from a sippy cup during the day. When she was 10.5 months i started her on cow`s milk and slowly cut down the amount of times we breastfed during the day.. i just slowly cut a feeding out during the day and replaced it with a bottle, and i found my milk supply adapted to the only feeding at night because i took a few weeks of weaning out the day feedings.

My daughter is ten months old and we are going through the same thing. I felt like I was forcing her to breastfeed during the day, but she was completely not interested in it. But before bed and in the morning she is very interested and when she is stressed. Everyone is telling me to just switch her to formula and just stop breastfeeding all together, but I love breastfeeding my daughter and she likes it too. I just don't know what to do. I think what you are thinking of doing would be good for us too.

i actually just switched to doing bottles during the day and breastfeeding at night about two weeks ago.. i started with doing half and half (bm and formula in the bottle) and now he gets just formula during the day and i breastfeed at night... im trying to wean completely so i pump about twice a day (till im just uncomfortable) but he gets the bottle from 8am to 9pm.. ive noticed that during the day i do not produce as much anymore but at night i get pretty full... its just like in the begining your body adapts to the needs of the baby... hope this helps!
