Has anyone tried goats rue to increase lactation? I was told to try it since the Fenugreek and even the Reglan isnt really working....I found a place that sells it locally along with the other MotherLove products so I didnt know which was better....the straight Goats Rue caps or the Special Blend More Milk Plus that has Goats Rue in it. Any advice or comments would be appreciated!

And yes, some may remember me, Ive been having supply isssues and posting around here like crazy trying to fix the problem for about 4 weeks now :(

Have you tried Shatavarie? It works really well most of the time but isn't very well known. Take 1 capsule 4 times a day and you should see results in about 3 days. My BCLC told me about it and it worked wonders for me. It's all natural and the only side effect is possible gas for you but that wasn't my experience.

Also, are you supplementing? If so are you using an SNS? I would highly recommend that if you HAVE to supplement that you use the SNS so that your breasts are getting as much stimulation as possible to ensure that supply and demand kicks in.

If you have any question on any of the above feel free to ask. I can give you links to info on the SNS and pills and tell you my experience with both.

Goats Rue is amazing, it helped me and a friend whom gave it too me. She pumped exclusively for 16 months and managed to keep going with that. It is used to help adoptive moms whom want to BF to lactate. You should give it a try. Also I just have to tell you how wonderful and amazing a mom you are for going to such lenghts. I applaud your determination!

You can call medela and order it from them. I don't think you can order it online.

I looked at 2 babies r us for a SNS, cant find one. I even called medical supply stores and the local hospitals. The hospitals have them, but wont sell them. I have no idea how to get one :(

I bought the Shatavari today and the mothers milk special blend with goats rue. Im going to try these and if the dont work Im going to try the domperidone stuff people have talked about. Im still offering the boob and trying my hardest but sometimes I feel like my body just hates me...LOL Hes going to be 2 months in a few days, is it normal to have this much of a struggle to get my milk back...Im so afraid Im running out of time, Im still only pumping a half ounce to 1 ounce from each boob, thats so little. They said I should be pumping between 2 and 4 ounces a boob, Ive never even been close to that!

An SNS (supplemental nursing system) is a bottle that hangs around your neck and has the supplement in it. It is on a string so it can be adjusted to hang below your childs head when nursing. There are two tubes that come off of it and can be clamped closed or left open to allow the supplement to be sucked out. These tubes are very thin and are taped on the breast so the tube hangs a bit over the nipple. When the baby latches on they latch onto the tube as well and after you breastfeed for a full feeding (10-15 minutes) you open the clamp and the baby sucks in the supplement. This means that you are getting all of the stimulation that your body needs to produce more milk and your baby is still being satisfied. Slowly over a period of a few weeks your body will begin to make more milk and your child will take less and less from the SNS. Most women are able to stop using it all together and just breastfeed.

I would highly recommend that you order one of these. I would be happy to help you with tips on using it.

I have no idea what an SNS is. Yes, Im supplementing. This all started when I got a sinus infection when he was 2 weeks, they gave my medicine and it dried me up, since then Ive had problems so hes mainly getting formula which I HATE. I want him strictly on breastmilk again but I dont have enough to satisfy him anymore so Im trying to get back to that point.

I pump as often as I can and I offer the boob at every feeding, he takes it and drains the little bit I have within 5 mins so I have to give him formula after. He does stay on the boob for about 20 mins in the morning though when they are really full and hes in bed with me, he seems satisfied and will go back to sleep for about 2 hours afterwards.

What is an SNS and how would it help? THank you!
