I noticed in some posts that some have babies close to Marleigh's age (9 months). I pump to feed her cereal, or before bed when my hubby puts her down. I do work 2 days a month and pump then too. I do good to get 2oz total at a time now. Is this normal? Marleigh is eating solids (sometimes it seems like we can't get her full enough) and growing well. She was 46th percentile for her weight at 6 months (but 95th for height) and at 9 months, she was 50th percentile for weight! I try to nurse still every couple of hours, but sometimes, she's just not that interested and wants to get her hands on everything around her!! I just wondered if this is normal for this age. I don't want her to self-wean yet!!!!

It sounds like she's doing good, but you might want to make sure she doesn't eat *too* much solids that it replaces her nursing sessions. For the first year, she really needs breastmilk for nutrition and solids for exploration, exposure, and experience mainly.

I also really like the website http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com for ideas on what to feed and how much and recipes, too.

Totally understandable; the world is a very exciting place when you're 9 months old!  Gabriel is exacly the same, and will really only nurse when too tired to be doing anything else - which is rarely, during the day, and frequently during the night.

I can back up Chelsea's claim! - I never pump more than 2oz (sometimes much less)! Gabriel is 10 months, and I've always put it down to him feeding little and often - there simply isn't time for the breasts to fill up with more than that! The first time I ever pumped was when he was 6 months (just before he started solids) which is I suppose when my milk must have been at its most abundant, and all I got was 70 mls (just over 2oz) even then. I thought it looked a very small amount, compared with what I had seen the formula fed babies knocking back! This last week, Gabriel has gone back to exclusive breastfeeding during a period of illness - my body adapted, and produced loads (oh, the engorgement when he went back to solids!) I wouldn't worry about not producing more - you're just producing the perfect amount for Marleigh, not for a hungrier baby!

By the way - my son has similar proportions to your daughter - nice and tall and lean! Prefect! I wouldn't worry at all.

This all sounds very normal.  If you are breastfeeding and pumping it's very normal to only get 1-2oz each pumping session.  Also what you describe about your daughter is the picture of a healthy 9 month old.  I work at a daycare and have for some time and most children I have taken care of at the exact same way.  They are just too busy to eat but they will not starve themselves.  The women who get 3-4oz or more at a pumping session usually have built in this session to the everyday routine as an extra nursing session of sorts.  How many times a day is she nursing roughly?
