Those 2 front teeth...ouch!

Well thank goodness it has suddenly gone back to normal!

2 little upper teeth have appeared, and it seems her latch has improved again. Phew!



I am now convinced that teething causes a lazy latch and I will be prepared next time. And now the teething is over, a better nights sleep please???? 4 down, 16 to go............

HA HA!! I laughed out loud at your "lucky cow" comment. I've thought that sometimes too!

My son has no teeth, but I anticipate problems when he gets them. He likes to comfort nurse often and he does this with a light, shallow latch that I can just imagine will be painful. I don't really know how to adjust this at all since he isn't really trying to eat at those times... I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens...

Hi Courtney, I just read your post too.
Isn't it awful going through sore nipples again? It was such a relief when I felt like I had finally cracked it and it didn't hurt anymore, and now that they are sore again it is so depressing!
No one understands how bad it makes you feel when you nipples hurt, I even find myself watching women on tv and thinking- 'I bet your nipples don't hurt you lucky cow!'.

But what everyone else has said on both of our threads seems to ring true in my case - she has got lazy with her latch. All today I have really concentrated on getting it right and getting her to take a big mouthful, and lower down than she had been postioning herself, and touchwood it feels better already.

I am also a big fan of Lansinoh, it has helped me through some dark times, lol!

In a way I count myself lucky that my daughter dislikes bottles so much, it has stopped me giving up all the times I might have been tempted to throw in the towel!

I just posted a conversation starter about sore nipples without reading this one first. SORRY. I've been having some issues lately also. Both of mine feel like they are raw. =/

She has her bottom teeth. April, you are right, I don't think her latch has ever been 100% on the left side, which is the one getting sore. I have tried adjusting her latch but at the moment she just slips back to the position she is used to.
Oh well I will keep persevering, it's good to know that it should still be possible to feed without it hurting, I had forgotten how awful sore nipples are!

I have the same thing happen sometimes. It just seems like she gets her mouth in a funny position. Usually she stops on her own and goes back to her usual latch. It also seems like I feel her teeth more when she's just nursing for comfort, and not really eating. (Not always, though.) Does she have her top or bottom teeth?

it sounds like her latch is not the best. you shouldn't be feeling those teeth like that. even at 14 months, i sometimes have to remind my son to open wide! (although this is rare)



also when he used to bite, i stopped crying out in pain. it made him do it more. but it doesnt sound like your little one is a biter. just sounds like her teeth are resting in the wrong place when she's nursing.
