yes you can breastfeed with a cold just consulate a doctor before using medications .
For low milk supply try mother;s milk tea and increase your fluid intake . I have also found that eating oatmeal helps increase milk supply . I also eat sugar coated fennel seeds and that helps increase supply.

I'm doin half and half in a bottle at night bc she sleeps better and I started that bc I cudnt produce enough milk for her when I had to go out... I did the half formula bc a breastfeedin consultant told me that was better than all formula and that formula can cause constipation... which she was gettin that and gas... so my grammy and mom suggested givin it to her more often to get her body used to it... so at night I bottle feed with half and half and durin the day wen I'm home I breast feed...

why is it that you give her half formula in a bottle at night? are you trying to fill her up so that she'll sleep longer? is there a particular reason for this?

1. yes it is safe to nurse with a cold

2. pumping that much at once is characteristic of a mother whose milk supply hasn't regulated yet. Now that your baby is older, your body is only producing what your baby is removing

3. Anytime your baby drinks something other than breastmilk, that nursing session that would have stimulated your nipples to produce more milk doesn't happen. You need to make those nursing sessions happen!! :)

I would say it's pretty essential you continue to nurse with a cold!! Your milk will have special antibodies against the cold to protect your baby. Your baby may get sick just from exposure to your saliva, but your breastmilk will help her fight that virus. Yes, keep nursing!!!

Pumps are just not as efficient at getting milk out as a baby is. There's nothing wrong with you.. it's just that your body responds better to your baby. You might try nursing instead of giving the bottles. If you continue pumping, you may just have to pump more often in order to get more milk.

Yes is it safe to bf with a cold, just check your meds first to see if they are able to be taken while bf. I was wondering if there was a reason you only use half breastmilk? Your breastmilk is a supply and demand system, the more milk is removed, the more you will make. Feeding you bub formula is the reason why your milk is decreasing. I would cut out the formula all together and nurse, nurse, nurse! Try pumping for even an extra 5 minutes after bub has fed will help your supply.

to be honest i've never heard of mixing bm with formula, but the Best way to increase your milk supply is to give up the formula... sorry! if you feed baby more regularly and pump in between, you will soon start to produce more. try pumping as soon as baby has stopped feding, or from the opposite side to the one she just fed from.

as for bf when sick, i asked the same question earlier and have been told that breastfeeding will give her your antibodies so she should not get sick....

Yes it's safe to breastfeed with a cold as long as you're NOT taking any meds that will affect your breastmilk....your milk is only made with your nutrients you have in your body. You should try to pump as much as you can to build up your milk supply!!! Why are you doing half formula? Do you put your baby to breast or bottle? If you pump every hour or every two hours you milk will begin to come in more then you can start bagging what you dont need at the moment date and freeze....hope this helps!
