My son wants to eat all day and night. He is waking up every 2 hours which is unusual for him. I'm afraid we are going backwards. Even if this is a growth spurt, how isn't he going to become used to this new schedule?

Thank You! It's so nice to know that he will get over this soon. I feel so bad for my little guy. Plus, I feel bad for me too ;P I am exhausted and starving! He is asleep now and has been for a couple of hours. We'll see how the rest of the day goes. We could be nearing the end. :))

well its simple, he is waking up out of hunger, growth spurts mess with sleep even with out hunger. some babies sleep more some less others almost not at all. some babies will eat more often, others will just eat more at one sitting.
you are not going backwards but in fact about to take a giant leap forward. your milk will be richer and better, and more plentiful and he will be bigger and eating more, possibly going longer between feeds and being able to sleep for longer periods of time.
this is just temporary, and when it is over, your son will go back to his routine. as his mom once the cluster feeding, irritability, sleep disturbances start to settle, you can help lead him back to his normal routine what ever it is.
dont worry , it really is only temporary. its also going to happen again , and probably again, at the next sets of growth spurts.
Logan will be bitchy, restless and not sleep well during his spurts, and then one day all of a sudden he sleeps like a log, i have to wake him from naps or he would sleep all day through and then its back to normal !
