My LO will be 6 months in a few days, but it seems that ever since she turned 5 months she started to eat every 1 1/2- 3 hours usually less than 3hrs. Sometimes she only eats on one side and then 30 minutes later she will ant to eat on the other side. She was on a little on solids, but then I decided to do baby led weaning, so she is exlusively nursed. Is this normal? She was waking up in the middle of the night 2-4 times, but now that is tapering off. I just feel so tired and I am always hungry! Is anyone else like this?

It sounds like a growth spurt. but if she's feeding little and often it could be thurst. has she had a cold recently? or has the weather been hotter? It was explained to me if my baby feed little and often it was normally they only wanted the "first milk - the thinner milk" as a drink then will stop as the thicked milk (the feed) starts (???). My first little boy came down with loads of little colds when he started teething and was drinking more than he was feeding.

It is probably a growth spurt. Plus now that she is bigger she needs more calories. The baby food should be fine but if you are worried about it you can always make your own. Check out wholesomebabyfood.com. They teach you how to make it. This site was recommended to be because of possible food allergies that my baby would have.

Totally normal! They will go through spurts, whether it be growing, teething, learning new things, that causes them to want to nurse more. Remember breastfeeding is not only our babies source of food, but also a wonderful comforter for them. Sometimes she may just want to nurse for extra comfort. My son nursed very frequently until he was 1, usually every 1 1/2-3 hours. Just continue to follow her lead. We really didn't start giving solids until he was 7 months, when he seemed interested and ready. Even then it was only about 1-2 times a day. It wasn't until he was a year old that we worked more at solids.

I too was extremely hungry while nursing. Just keep eating and snacking on healthy foods throughout the day. It takes a lot of energy for our bodies to make milk!

my daughter is breast fed as well, but when i noticed she was eating that often i realized she would never get enough strictly through breast feeding. i called our family doctor and he said it was fine to start her on solids. she was one week shy of 6 months at the time. now she is content and full. don't worry about the led part. baby food is fine! but i also try to nurse her as much as possible. she also gets formula before bed to keep her full through the night. hope this helps!

my daughter is 5 months now and it seems that she has been nursing more often also. I'm pretty sure that its a growth spurt or something. It will pass.
