So i had a period about 6 weeks after son was born. He's now 25 weeks and haven't had one since. Is this normal? Should i be buying a test? Anyone have this?

I had postpartum bleeding for ten weeks. If you are on the mini pill you have to be careful because you have to take it right on schedule or you can get pregnant. Plus, as you probably already know, you can get pregnant while exclusively breastfeeding even without ever having a period. I did not have a period for over two years after I quit having PP bleeding. So yes it is normal but it never hurts to go to your OB and get tested.

I would just make sure you are not pregnant (thats if you have started having sex again). As I got my first period when my first bubs was 3 months old, then got another one a month later then didnt have one again for 2 months.
I was breastfeeding so just assumed it was playing havoc with my periods. Then I started feeling sick and found out I was 2 months pregnant lol But I hadnt been on any pill or anything because my first bub was IVF PMSL!! It was a happy shock though.
If you are on the mini pill then you should be ok, but maybe for your own peace of mind, pop in to the docs for a prego test. But it is normal for breastfeeding to throw the periods around. Good luck :)

Buy a test, if it's negative, then your fine not having a period.

I never really had one. With both kids I spoted around 8 weeks after. so I am sure my body was telling me I am ovulating again. Its nice in a way but also not because its heard to tell if I am pregnant at all.

What method of birth control do you use? Do you exclusively breast feed? How long did you bleed after the delivery, and how long was it done before your "period"
If you are breastfeeding exclusively it is most likely nothing. Just some lochia left behind after a brief stop. Many women bleed for up to 6 or 8 weeks after delivery so it is normal to not have a period for months if BFing exclusively.
To ease your mind get a pregnancy test, blood not urine as hormones from contraceptives and BFing can affect the out come of the test.

Interesting - It's probably normal though. If you haven't had one by the time a year rolls around though, I'd wonder about it. Make sure you're not pregos, at least.

I'd check just in case but I got mine back with baby two at 8 weeks & he was exclusively bf, which didn't impress me much as i have nightmare periods. But they were regular after that.

I had a period just after six weeks after my son too, but I think it was because my kiddo started sleeping about 5-6 hours at night early on, and then I didn't start the Mini Pill until about 8 weeks postpartum. Very normal to stop bleeding if you've started the MIni pIll or if you are exclusively BF.

Are you sure it was your period? It is quite common for your postpartum bleeding to pick back up for short time around 6 weeks.

are you taking any birth control? the same thing happened to me at 6 weeks after I started taking the mini pill and I haven't had my period since. I did take a test just to be sure though.

if you nurse a lot thru the day, its perfectly normal. with my second child i didnt get it back til she was 8 mo, my third it was 10 mo, and my 4th it was 15 mo. so yeah if youre nursing a lot thats what it is. one of my favorite nursing perks. :)

Do you have any signs of being pregnant? If you want to put your mind at ease it wouldn't hurt to take a test. Breastfeeding can really throw your cycles off and that's normal. You may not see another one for a while.
