7 months old and not sleeping through the night

My son is 7 1/2 months and still wakes up in the middle of the night to nurse. I got him back in his crib after sleeping with us all summer (we have AC in our room and he doesnt). But I'v been bringing him in with us to nurse him in bed when he wakes. I used to nurse him in the rocking chair in his room but Im just too tired. My friend said her son didnt sleep through the night until she weined. Does anyone have a BF baby that sleeps through the night? What can I do?

First of all, keep in mind that if you or the baby's father wake in the night to pee or just rustle about in the bed and plump your pillow, your baby is genetically predisposed to wake in the night.

Secondly, it is VERY uncommon for babies to sleep more than 5hr stretches. If your baby sleeps 5-6hr, that is considered "sleeping through the night."

I also second reading "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley. The book is FANTASTIC, has SO many recommendations, and when you look at your log of night-wakings in the beginning compared to later, it is very encouraging. I hope that book will help you - your local library may have it, so no need to rush out and buy it. *hug*

I would highly suggest reading the book The No Cry Sleep Solution. My daughter wakes once in the night at 12 months of age. However she used to wake more frequently but once I read that book I was able to help her to sleep for longer amounts of time. Good luck and remember that night waking is completely normal especially at 7 1/2 months old.

I wish I had some helpful advice, but all I can tell you is I know your pain. :) My first one didn't sleep through the night until she weaned herself at 11 months. Now my second.. who is now 8 1/2 months has been sleeping through the night since he was 4 months. I wish I knew what the trick was. Good luck and know that this is just one of many phases and it'll be over before you know it. :)

my 8mo still wakes 3-4 times a night...on a good night. it is perfectly normal for a baby to wake to feed or comfort during the night until atleast 12mo. i have found that putting him in bed with me has helped. i took the side off his cot (crib) and attached it to our bed so he has his own space in my bed and he sleeps ALOT better. i also put something that smells like me in bed with him.



he is more than half way to 12mo, so hang in there. even if you do wean early, it still wont mean he will definately sleep trough. you could try offering a bigger solids dinner, but that might not work either. i have come to realise that they need us during the night, not only the day. someone once said that parenting doesnt stop at bed time and that is so true!



bf children do wake during th night for a feed more than formula fed children, but breast milk is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better for them.



bringing him into your bed does not mean that you wont be able to get him back to his bed, it isnt going to last forever. we have a saying in our house....happy and not tired mummy and wife happy family.
