My son is 7 and a half months old and still primarily breastfed. He started taking bottles on occassion at 1 month old and at 3 and a half months I went back to work full time and pump so he has milk while he is at daycare. He started solids at 5 months, and would eat at least one new veggie a week,. He eats once or twice a day (only about an ounce or two a day). He had been doing great with both bottles and solids until about 3 weeks ago. All of a sudden he stopped taking bottles altogether and will only eat when nursed. For 2 weeks he would eat solids at daycare, but just not milk; now in the last 5 days he will not eat solids either. He goes to daycare 6 hours a day and I am afraid he is not getting enough fluid/food.
Last week he had a fever for 4 days (101-103) and when I took him to the doctor I found out he had lost 1 and a 1/2 pounds since his last visit 3 weeks ago...which is a lot for a 14.5 LB boy who is 29 inches long. I did not get to see his normal doctor and the doctor we did see was not even aware of his wieght loss, I had to bring it up. She was more interested in talking about the fever.
I have tried different types of food, veggies, fruits, juice, water from sippy cups, oatmeal, cereal nibblers but nothing is working. Does anyone have any thoughts or advise? I have an appointment with his pediatrician tomorrow, but thought I'd get some advise here as well.
Please help!
