I'm a first time mom and I am exclusivly breastfeeding my 3 month old. I have never had any issues with milk supply, or her eating, or gaining weight..etc. However, I am mildly concerned with my diet. I'm sure that I'm not the only one, but I sometimes feel like I don't even have time to eat. The baby will eat, poop...I'll run to the washroom,laundry,....[you know how it goes..] and then I know that I will end up having to sit for another feeding within a half hour, so there isn't much time to commit to preparing/cooking food because by the time I am actually done, there won't be time to eat it!!
I generally eat a lot of whole grain cereals, fruit, toast and peanut butter, sandwhiches, salad, chicken, potoatoes [plus Maturna vitimin]...and it doesn't really steer very far from that. I guess I've just gotten really comfortable with a certain diet because its whats easiest and fastest.
So really I am looking for some good tips on fast and healthy foods that will help me keep up my calories, and proivde the nutrition for my little one! What do you eat throughout the day to keep you going?
Thanks in advance! :)

I know that it is hard to find time to eat. I drink ensures or boost to help with my food intake when I'm really busy or late at night during my daughter's feeding. It's helped me. Or try carnation breakfast drinks. I find it helps with keeping my energy level up after feeding her, cause you can feel so drained.

Generally you don't need anything even close to a perfect diet in order to provide good milk for your baby. This article explains it really well http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/mo...

It will get easier to eat healthier as your baby gets older and isn't as needy. Sounds like you're doing fine!

My pleasure!
A slow cooker is great (maybe you call them crock pots?) as you prepare the food earlier in the day and it is ready and waiting when you are ready. Also great because you can make extra - and then you've got another nights dinner cooked, or a few lunches.

To provide for your baby, all you really need is a cup of cooked rice and plenty of water. (mums in refugee camps are still breastfeeding their babies!) Your body takes what it needs for your babies nutrition from your stores, from your bones and your liver - it will even break down your muscles! So, for your own health, a good diet is important - and yours sounds pretty good. A good quick snack is a handful of nuts, and eggs are easy and packed full of nutrients.
