Hi Moms! Once again I am in need of your expertise. First I would like to thank Lilliana & Tammy for the VERY helpful advice on my previous post. It is so nice to have support. I have decided to let my son self wean. I realize it was only the comments of others that had me doubting myself. I do not want, and am not ready to wean. Now here is my new complication. While popping fireworks with my 2 older children I received 2nd degree burns. I explained to the Dr. that I am nursing he said the meds he gave me will not hurt my son. I took the 2 vicodin taking his advice. However when I left the hospital I tried to find the drug on the Kelly moms website I couldn't find it. The pharmacist was no help either. Finally I found some info on a site saying that mothers who have had c-sections & taken this medication nursed and had no problems. The pharmacist said their data base only gave info on how long it would be in my system & recommended stop nursing for 10 days. 10 days, are you kidding!!! He will be miserable & wean his self. I finally called poison control and she said I could nurse him in the morning. This made me very happy. But can you please help me! I don't want to hurt my baby & I don't want to wean. I will not take the prescription he gave me for loratab. I just want to nurse my baby please give any advice or info you have. I only took the 2 vicodin at the hospital & will not be taking anymore. Thank you

Did they give you any of that when you delivered? From what i understand they are fine. Try taking one if you can handle the pain. I am not one to take pain meds even after delivery i filled the rx but still have it in my cabnit. Sorry to hear about you accident, hope you feel better soon. God Bless!

Call the InfantRisk center. It was created by Dr. Hale. He is the author of the book, "Medications and Mothers' Milk" which is what LC's/Dr's/pharmacists use to see if a medication is safe for a nursing mom. Here's there website with a phone number:
