I have a boil and now a slight fever and a slight cold. Can this affect my baby while I am breastfeeding? I'm not taking any medicine except foe some ibprofren and a topical medicine to help my boil, called draw out salve. Any advice on what is safe and what is not?

The best thing you can do is nurse. You'll pass the antibodies down.
Ibuprofen, Tylenol, most meds are safe to take. A couple of sites that you can go to look up your medicine to make sure:
