Im taking a trip to Florida and want to take some frozen breast milk.I wanted to know if anyone has traveled and transported it on the flight. I was tring to avoid taking the pump incase we want to have a night out. Has anyone taken breast milk on a plane? What did you have to go through ? Has anyone taken frozen breast milk? We leave on May 10th.

as long as you declare it at the screening point you will have no problem - keep it out separate from your other things (in a different bin). while there are no actual limits on the amounts you can bring - they do want you to keep it at a limit that seems reasonable. if you're on a 9 hour flight they would understand 4 bottles but a 2 hour flight may only need 1 1/2.
i agree that you should try contacting the airports you will be going thru to find out for sure. Good luck!

I just flew internationally about a month ago from JFK and I did bring with me frozen breastmilk. I just let them know before hand I had it and they didn't fuss about it. Again it was FROZEN in a separate cooler. I don't think you should have a problem.

Actually it's the airports...an example of this: I followed the TSA guidelines for my insulin that is in a pen form, it had to stay cold so I used a thermos to transport it. Every airports TSA screening was different...Dallas Fortworth was the worse of the pack, whereas Newark was pretty good about the insulin.

each airline is different.I would phone the airlines you are going to travel with, but more important is the airport(s) you will be transitting through. they are the security check points that you need to ultimately find out what their protocols are...have a fun trip!

thank you for asking that question! i am going out of town in June and hated to express perfectly good breast milk only to dump it out because i couldn't bring it back with me.

Thanks! I did check it out but it didn't give me enough info. when it comes to frozen. My little one doest take a bottle unless I go out....lol And that has been 3 times in 10 months. hes with me 24/7.But I thought I would try and take some frozen for my mother to feed him if we get out for our anniversary.(fingers crossed) Hes a mommas boy....lol I'm lucky that he drinks out of everything. I just didn't want to carry the pump. I have the milk in the pump bottles. But I believe they are 4 oz bottles. I read that they don't have a limit on the amount of liquids for milk, breast or juice anymore and that they dont test anymore. I'm hoping that's a fact. I just want as much info. on this so I'm not wasting the liquid gold...lol

I have taken cows milk through the check point at 2 different time. At one airport they tested it bu putting a small piece of paper through it. The other airport I told them I had the milk and an icepack they looked at it but never tested it. I was going to take breastmilk through but my daughter stopped drinking it from the bottle. But I looked at the TSA website and they have very clear instructions dealing with breastmilk. I did get a funny look when I have a 4 month old and told them I didn't have any liquids for her, then I told the security officer I nursed and she understood. So they are good about milk for babies/toddlers as long as you tell them before anything goes through x-ray and have it in a seperate cooler just incase they need/want to check it. Plus I'm sure the frozen milk will be in a bag that says "mother's milk" on it.

Sorry if I babbled, but you shouldn't have a problem if you tell them you have it and have it in a sererate cooler so the can check it easily. And check out the TSA website. Have a fun trip!
