my son will be 9mos in 1week. i am planning to wean him off the breast when he is 1 yr old. he is solely breastfed now(no formula/bottle) plus solids. i dont want to use a bottle when ill be switching to cows milk(i guess this will be ok by then).

is it best to kinda introduce him to formula now, maybe give him a cup a day? how should it be done?

We just gave him milk in a sipper cup (cows milk / soy). My bub is now 13mths and he still has 2-4 breastfeeds a day. If he has only 2 then he has 2 cups of milk at morning at arvo tea out of the sipper cup. My son would however drink from cups / and sipper cup even straight from the cow if given the chance! Good luck, your plan is very achievable. I wouldn't bother with introducing formula, there is no point if you are going to continue to feed til 1 yr, then go straight to cows milk, slowly replacing one feed every few days with the cows milk in a sipper cup. I gave my son a few small cups of cows milk from 11-11.5mths.

what about one of the non-spill sippy cups they are great they dont spill at all and for him to get the fluid out all he has to do is suck on the sippy bit at the top

hope this helps :)
