I weaned my third child last June on her second birthday. I was due in November with a fourth and nursing had become uncomfortable. I had already stopped the overnight nursing back in April. I told her she was big enough that she didn't need to nurse any more at night and didn't nurse her. She begged. She cried. She didn't get any and then she got over it. Same approach in June. I told her she was big and we were going tyo stop nursing on her birthday. And then we did. I had slowed down the feedings for a few weeks beforehand- stalling tactics and whatnot- Offering sippy cups or games or books. I think the first few days are hard- she cried and whined and asked several times... but then she adjusted and got over it. Good luck! I wish I could help. My 18 month old is starting to bite and refuses to wean. She drinks cow's milk/water/tea out of a straw cup, but still wants her 'bop'. I'm not sure how to get her to wean and am not sure I want to wait indefinitely to let her self-wean. Good luck!

Have you tried sippy cups?

My eldest didn't (self) wean until she was almost 3. I'm still breastfeeding my 15 month old and will let her self wean too.

For my little one there is always a sippy cup with water/juice/cows milk/cows milk milkshake available to her - I'm leaving it to her to naturally lose interest and find other things more interesting!
