Our little guy started sleeping for 5-6 hours straight through the night at about 2 and a half months. Then he caught a cold and his sleeping pattern went out the window as he was waking up with a stuffy nose and/or coughing. He is now 4 and a half months old and the cold has long gone but his sleeping pattern has not returned. He now sleeps for around 3-4 hours from roughly 7:30-8pm through to 11/12. After that it's almost hourly to hour and a half feeds for the rest of the night. Then during the day it's 2 hourly feeds. Is this 'normal'? I have tried giving him both breasts in the night, thinking that maybe he was falling asleep before he had enough milk, it made no difference. I also tried expressing milk in the morning and then for the last feed at night before bed I gave him breast first then the bottle. This seemed to help him sleep for a good solid 4 to 5 hours but then back to waking every hour and a half again. Is it because he isn't getting enough milk? I used to wake up slightly engorged in the morning, now I feel like there is almost nothing there! :) My sister suggested that he might be having a growth spurt.
