I am posting this for a friend at home in Germany. Her son is 10months old and she is gonna go back to school in two months which means he will go to day care. The problem is that she is still exclusively breastfeeding him and that he's not showing a lot of interest in food. She does not want to start pumping her milk. Any ideas how she could get her little guy to eat some food? Thanks!

If her boy has never had solids I would say start out with the cereals then move on to Stage 1 foods. It is important to wait between adding new foods to check for sensitivities or allergies. I would just and a new food a week. It is actually supposedly a three day wait between introducing a new food but a week is easier to keep track.

As Celest, I would try regular food such as a banana that the baby could hold or a toast. Anything that the baby could grab and eat by himself. But be careful with raw vegetables.

Has she tried just regular table foods? My boys weren't too interested in purees.

I started my 6 month old slowly (she was already being bottle fed because being in the States I had a short maternity leave- I can't wait for my year long one now that I live in Canada) Just introducing plain rice cereal with breast milk at first. Then I moved on to flavoured cereals and some mashed fruits.
