Hi! I have a 13mo that still wants to nurse at least three times during the day ( he lifts my shirt up when I try to offer whole milk to him), and when he wakes up during the night, he wont go back to sleep unless I feed him till he's asleep again. I dont mind that he's still nursing~ thats not the issue. Its just that he wants to nurse instead of eating solid foods some days. He is just barely at the weight he's supposed to be at, and I think he'll probably continue to lose weight because of his lack of desire to eat anything but breastmilk. And as for the night time nursings- I've tried bottles, cups, letting him console himself back to sleep, etc. Only thing that works is the breast unfortunately. I need some sleep sometime in the next year, so pleeeeassse help! ty :)

I don't know about the weight issue for your son, which would definitely be something to talk to his doctor about, but re: sleeping --- "The Sleepeasy Solution" saved me with both children. The book is in large print and very simple, which makes following it easy when you're sleep deprived.

On a related note, a friend of mine cut sugar from her diet to lose baby weight and her son went on a nursing strike because her milk tasted differently... perhaps this could help you?

Finally, your job is to provide your child with healthy food. It's up to him whether or not he'll eat it. A great resource on this is the book "Sweet Child of Mine."

Good luck!!!

Thank you Hannah. I'll give it a shot. And I've already talked to his doctor about his weight, and he's says he's fine. He is on target for his height and age (being that his mom and dad are only 5'5" and 5'6"). I've decided to let him nurse until he's ready to stop. I'll just try to work out a better night time routine with him. thx again! :)
