BF & colonoscopy

My daughter is 13 months old and it turns out I need a colonoscopy. I have two weeks until the procedure. Doc is saying I can BF during the prep (cleansing) but not for 30 hours after the procedure. But from what I'm reading on anesthesia it seems possible to nurse once the effects wear off. Anyone been there, have advice? I'd hate to rent a pump. I've never pumped (this is my 3rd). I can hold her off nursing until nighttime. Procedure is at 11am. Thanks!

Ok, even if I hold her off, it looks like I still need to pump and dump. Unless I don't? So it's a moot point if I have to rent anyway.

It depends on the medication that they will be giving you, but as a general rule if you are awake and alert it is ok to breastfeed. I don't have the link to the site, but google Dr. Hale and breastfeeding medications. He has an entire site that you can go to and find the medication they are giving you. I had a D&C last november which is general anesthesia (which they may do for you or they may just do something like versed and pain meds) and I nursed my child the moment I got home from the hospital about 3 hours after the surgery. He was 18 months old then. I think most doctors like to err on the side of caution because they don't really know any better. Hope that helps!
