I am nursing my 4 month old daugher and was on the mini-pill and they made me sick. The doctor put me on Microgestin Fe 1/20 ( generic for Loestrin Fe 1/20). I was resurching the pills and it said not to use while nursing. Why would the doc give me something not reccomended for nursing when they now I'm nursing. I would not take any birth control if I had the choice but they hubby and I don't want another baby yet. Has anyone been on these before or have any suggestions on what to do?

Check with a lactation consultant. They can look it up in Dr. Hale's book.

The doctor wouldn't give it to you if you couldn't have it. There are products made FOR pregnant women that say not to use while pregnant or nursing but it means without a doctors seal of approval. Honestly, there aren't many options for us nursing women! I wouldn't worry as long as doc knows you are nursing it will be fine. There are always condoms... I know, but it is an option, or an IUD. Otherwise... that is about it. Good luck! I know it sucks.
