What does that feel like? I have this shooting pain in my left nipple. It comes and goes. Does anyone know what it might be. I'm thinking a blocked milk duct. If so, how do I make it feel better or fix it?! It hurts!!

A blocked duct would be more like a very sore breast. I have had a blocked duct several times and it was never a shooting pain in my nipple. But very very achey brest where it was blocked. Also if you have a blocked duct your breast will tend to get hard in that area because it is full of milk. If you massage the area that is hard while you are nursing the baby or pumping it will help that milk to release some.

I had that with my first baby...the Dr told me it was the start of whatever causes thrush. I had to apply Lotrimin for a few days. Call your Dr. though, mine diagnosed me over the phone. Good luck!

Goodluck! I'm sorry i can't help you anymore. Breastfeeding is a very painful thing sometimes. Sometimes i get pains and don't know why than they go away. There is also a thing called mastitis which is a breast infection which is the same pain wise as a blocked duct. But you also will have a high fever and a red area on the breast. etc. Baby may have just suckled weird and done some damage to the nipple that has happend to me may times to. If you are really uncomfortable though i would just call the lactation consultant at the hospital where you had the baby and they are very very helpful. I have had to do it many times. Good luck
