I want to BF and combine it with the Bottle - expressed breast milk. Anyone have any experience with this and a good bottle to use. I used Avent the last time but had a big struggle to have my DD latch onto the breast after being on the bottle for a day or two, also when just BF her exclusively for a day she would then not want to take the bottle. Very frustrating and I'm now looking at getting a different bottle. Ive read the Calma by Madela is quite good....any one used this? I would apreciate any advise :) And Thanks in advance.

My son is still nursing strong and gets bottles (not daily). The only bottle I will ever use are the Playtex Drop-Ins. He has never had a problem going from breast to bottle nipple or vise versa. He took his bottles for a day and then went back to breast NO problem. And since I nurse him more then bottle feed he obviously goes from breast to bottle no problem.
I have not used the Calma, nor do I know anyone who has.
The Playtex Drop-Ins also allow you to push out all of the air so there are no gassy upset tummies!!! :)

I too use the Playtex Ventaire Wide Nipple with my 4 month old. I use the slow nipple so that he has to suck hard. He takes 2 bottles while I am at work and I make sure to pump minimally twice but usually can get 3 -4 sessions in during the 8 hours, this has helped to ensure I have enough to fill the bottles and keep my supply up while I am away from him. This has worked thus far.

I initially used the Avent but had lots of gas issues and the milk would run out of his mouth, even with the slowest nipple.

I used playtex ventaire wide nipple. My daughter is now 11 months and goes back and forth between breast and bottle. She is still on the slow flow so she still has to work at the bottle. I only did one bottle a day given by my husband till I went back to work full-time. That way she took the bottle but it didn't impact my supply because I would only miss one feed usually in the middle of the night. Remember whenever you use the bottle you have to pump otherwise over time your body will not produce as much which causes a vicious cycle which could ultimately lead to weaning. Good-luck!
