Are you just as likely to conceive while you are breast feeding if you have your period back?
Is it exactly the same as if you had already weaned ? I am assuming this IS the case and bf-ing has no bearing on the ability to get pregnant once your cycle has resumed on a regular basis.

Thanks Lori.. according to my last period, I should be ovulating tomorrow so I am busy tomorrow!! haha. I hope it works out b/c I still want to nurse-- even if just one or two feedings a day!

Saliana - there's no harm in trying now... and it certainly can happen while you're nursing still. Especially since you've got your period back. It's just slightly less likely than it would be if you weren't nursing anymore. And you can continue to nurse throughout your pregnancy assuming a healthy normal pregnancy,and of course your desire to continue.

I am hoping to still get pregnant while BFing. Baby is 9 months old now and I got my period back 3 months after delivery. I am just plagued by guilt about the whole weaning issue and I am also worried that I wean her then no pregnancy occurs.. so that would suck! lol

No, it's not exactly the same as if you had weaned. Check out this link from Kelly Mom. If you scroll down to the part where it talks about transitioning to full fertility it gives some % of frequency of ovulation at first and 2nd cycle while still nursing compared to first and 2nd cycle post weaning. The frequency of ovulation is much higher after weaning.

I know is anecdotal evidence, but I know of several moms who wanted to get pregnant again, and even though they had their periods back, couldn't get pregnant until they'd fully weaned. Of course there are others who get pregnant with no trouble while they're still breastfeeding.
