My breast feeding 10 month old son nurses all night long. Its exhausting! I would like to move him to his crib but he wont sleep in there. I have gotten a lot of advise but they all consists of my sone sleeping in another room but we dont have one yet. We will in about 6 mon but Im so tired and want him to sleep in his crib sooner than later. Any suggestions?

I put our pack and play next to the bed. We never bought a crib. I think he was around yours sons age but its all a sleepless blur to me. Anyways, I would nurse him down then put him in the pack and play. He typically slept for about 4 hours or so in there by himself then wanted in bed with us. I tried so hard to sit up and nurse him then put him back on the pack and play but most nights I just side nursed him and fell back asleep. We have had a bunch of sleepless nights lately (he now sleeps in his own big boy bed in his room) in which he has been coming int our bed around 1AM. I often wonder how I ever went to work and functioned on such limited, interrupted sleep. Good luck hope you get some rest soon :0

consistency....my son slept with me in our room in his bassinet and then crib until he was 10 months old...because we had no other room. At 7 months old i needed him to at least sleep part of the night in his bed. So I decided that anytime before midnight was time for him to be in his bed. It took my very stubborn son 7 nights to learn this. I have other friends that it only took 2 or 3 nights. There was NO crying, just fussing, and it was hard work for me. It meant that I had to get up out of bed and go to him multiple times (sometimes every 15 minutes for a couple of hours). I would nurse him and when he was asleep I would put him into his bed. When he would wake I would do it all over. Eventually he would be okay and sleep for a couple of hours. After that 7 days he would sleep from 7pm to 11pm or 1am, which i would ]hen bring him into bed with me. Eventually when he was a bit older we tried sleep training, and have tried it several times to no avail, but this seems to work for us. Hope it helps you. Now he sleeps from 6pm-2 or 4am, and then comes into bed with us (he is 16 months now)

he'll grow out of it, my son sleeps with me right now too. my mom, who breastfed all four of her children, says they'll out grow it.

take the mattress out of the crib and put it next to yours...that way he is in his own space and you won't have to go far to nurse him. if that isn't feasible, can you sidecar your crib (take the front off and push the crib to your bed)? or could you try pushing his crib super close to your bed so that he can still see you? (i'm going to try this last option tonight, as we cannot sidecar until we order parts for the crib)
