I've made it until her being 9 Months old on a Milk, Egg & Soy free diet but now she is starting to wean herself. What on earth should I give her as an alternative? She refuses to take the Hypo Allergenic Formula & I hardly blame her as it smells disgusting. I'm trying to go as long as I can but what if she stops nursing? There has to be something I can give her! Anyone had to deal with this while breastfeeding a baby with food allergies?

at 9 months old most babies are starting to get sooo easily distracted that it's easy to mistake that for early weaning. Try finding one spot in the house that you can nurse her without distractions. A rocking chair in my babies room with the lights turned off is what worked for me. Up until this age I had been able to nurse her just about anywhere, and I could play games on my phone while I nursed. Right around 8 to 9 months old I found I couldn't do any of that anymore. No more playing on the phone... she wanted to see what I was doing. No more watching TV while I nursed... she wanted to watch too. Even in the darkened room she'd have to play around on my lap for a few minutes and check out the curtains, and the bedspread etc. before she'd settle in and nurse. Now, at 17 months she's showing no signs of being ready to give it up. :)

My daughter also has a cow milk allergy, and is sensitive to too much soy. I offer her rice milk, almond milk, coconut milk, and goat milk. However she is over the age of 1. AND, she doesn't drink much of any of them - but since she's still nursing I'm not to worried.

Have you tried pumping and feeding her breast milk in either a bottle or a sippy cup? Will she drink it that way?

Since my daughter does have allergies, I'm even more convinced that I need to breastfeed her at least 2 years. With my first my goal was 1 year... and I fed her till 23 months. (and yes, same distraction problem around 9 months old). Now with this one my goal is 2 years and from then we'll see.

Now I'm not saying you need to stress yourself out worrying about nursing till the age of 2, but if she won't take the Hypo Allergenic Formula, she needs to be drinking breast milk at least until her first birthday.
