I am still nursing my toddler son. I don't get support from my husband nor my older kids. They all say he is too big, but he enjoys it and so do I. I argue that he will stop when he is ready. Kids grow so fast and soon enough he will be grown and off doing his own thing so why can't I enjoy this time with him? He is my only son and my last child. What is so wrong with nursing him? I have five kids- 24, 21, 20, and 13. The oldest stopped on her own shortly after she turned one. The second one had to be weaned to make way for the third baby. And the 20 and 13 yr olds were nursed until they were three. He is a happy boy and I don't see the harm. My husband says I am making him a "sissy".

It must be so discouraging and upsetting to have those closest to you not support you. Have you thought of going to some La Leche League meetings? You can find a group in your area here:

The support and encouragement of other mothers, especially those who share one's parenting philosophy, can really give one's spirit a lift.
