I am currently breastfeeding my 3 month old. I have not had a period and not on any form of bc. Is it true that you can not get pregnant unless you have a period while breastfeeding?

I breastfed my 9 year old till he was14 months old and didn't have period for a year. I know everyone is different...just wanted to make sure I had my fact correct.





According to Dr. Sears website....breastfeeding being used as a natural contraceptive is 98% percent reliable if you answers NO to these 3 questions.

okay, thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. I guess breastfeeding does not prevent pregnancy. What is the safest birth control to take while nursing? My dr suggested depo but I read about side effects.

Do you ovulate at all while breastfeeding?

I am breastfeeding my 8 month old & bf my 4 yr old for a year. It did take a couple months for my period to come back after weaning. YES you can definitley get pregnant. It happened to my cousin. Her oldest just turned 1 2 weeks ago & she is due with her 2nd any day now.

Okay, so you can get pregnant while breastfeeding even if you never used formula, baby food or pacifier? WOW! That is something. My last period was August 8, 2008...It been almost a year since I had period.

yep you can get pregnant while breast feeding without getting a period. my daughter is 16 months old and has been weaned about a month and i have yet to get a period. With my second my cycle started after about 5 months and with my first after a year. It just varies when it starts again.

u CAN get pregnant, but it is a little harder... also i hve been breastfeeding for about 8 months and still no period... my mom is an RN and she said that it could take 3 months for your period to come back after you stop breastfeeding...
