My baby is 9months old and is ebf. We started on solids around 6 months, but over the last few weeks he's been wanting to nursing while eating dinner. I'll give him a jar of baby meat, such as turkey or something along with a veggie or fruit but inbetween bites he wants to nurse. Is this normal or okay?

hi Mindy i would try breast feeding before offering solids also you could offer him a little cool boiled water in a sippy cup to help wash down the solids

I would suggest offering the breast shortly before a meal of solids. Breast milk should remain the primary source of nutrition for the first year.

Also, I just wanted to offer up another little tidbit of info. Feel free top take it or leave it. I would recommend beginning the transition from jarred/pureed foods to whole solids/ finger foods and encourage self feeding by this age. Even a 6 month old does not need to eat purees. The longer you wait to make the transition, the more difficult it may be for your little one.

I think so. Not sure how practical it is to nurse like that though. ;) My son went through quite a few phases where he had no interest in solids for days at a time and would only nurse. I kept offering the solids at regular intervals, but if he didn't eat that was fine too.
