I keep seeing it mentioned - how does it affect breastfeeding? I make sure not to drink too much, but I do drink some - I like Coke. :/ And it's always less than 150 mg a day, if that. I also wanted to know about certain foods that you're suggested not to eat while breastfeeding - how long does it take them to get out of your system? I love onions and stuffed jalapenos... lol But not eating them right now, of course.

I agree eat what you want - of course limit the caffine intake and don't drink and feed right after but really your milk is made from your body not staight from your food so unless a certain food really seems to bother your little one than wat what you crave ;)

Some people say to avoid garlic, but what to italian babies eat? If a food really bothers your baby, avoid if you can.

The only thing i avoid is alcohol. i know it is ok to have one drink, but i don't like the idea of my baby sampling it anyway. I prefer to wait.

I eat anything I want while breastfeeding and drink 3 cups of coffee a day and it never affected my feeds. The only thing I am careful of is alcohol. I try to refrain from drinking when I know I have to feed, so unless its a special occasion I dont drink until she has gone to bed at night. And I love jalapenos, I always get them piled on my Subway lol!

The only reason I abstain from caffeine is because it decreases my milk supply. Otherwise, you can pretty much eat and drink everything that you were able to when pregnant. If spicy food was okay when pregnant, it will probably be fine now.

Depends on the baby. Neither of my babies seem to be affected by caffeine or other foods. Most women can eat just about anything while breastfeeding. No reason to avoid onions or jalapenos, unless you discover afterwards it affects your baby.
