Can you re-lactate after 3 months?

I had my son on August, 15th 2011. He is now 4 months old and I breastfed him for 1 month when he was born. The reason that I stopped, was because my milk was not rich enough and he was not getting full off of it. I was wanting to know if there was ANY possible way to bring your milk supply back and if so, how?!? I am wanting to try breastfeeding again because I have been devastated by the story of the 10 day old baby that died from Enfamil formula in Springfield, MO. He passed away from a bacterial infection and other cases have been found as well! I felt like such a failure when I stopped breastfeeding my son and have wanted to try again, but just now heard that you can possibly re-supply your milk if your baby is 4 months or younger. Is this really possible? THANKS!

Hi, I m a working mom who want to retun to breast feeding either pumping or nursing...my baby is 9 months now and I have stopped giving him my breast milk at 6 months...due to getting back to work...ever since then he has had ear infections, diarrhea and not been so happy as before...any suggestions of how i can go back? tried taking fenugreek seeds and started pumping but nothing comes out...if i hand express i only make 1-2 drops..is that a good start? should i keep pumping and hand express ...am still working and only break i get is the lunch hour but im willing to work teh rest of the day when im home...can i still have hope? any input will be very helpful.THANKS.

Hey Lynzi, I went through the same thing. I breastfed my daughter for only a month, having many complications the entire time until I finally gave up. She is now three months old and I REALLY want to start breastfeeding again. I never had a good milk supply to begin with and am worried that even if I try to relactate it wont "come" in . I was wondering how things worked for you and if you had any suggestions from your own experience? I am determined to be a BF mother!!! Thanks

It is possible, for sure. It'll take some work, but you can do it. Do you own a pump? Here is a link with info on how to relactate. Good luck!
