my baby is 2 months old and i can only seem to express 1 n half ounce each time i express ! can anyone tell me how i am able to express more please as when i want to go out with my other two children i have not been able to express enough milk to go out with my health visitor said that it is normal but some other breast feeding moms i know with babies the same age can express alot more

unfortunatly that is normal. i know that my little guy can eat 4-5 ounces in a sitting because when i do pump and feed him in a bottle that is how much he usually eats... but i can only pump maybe 2 oz... 1 oz from each side. what i have tried it making sure i am super relaxed and pumping on the way to somewhere. Like i will pump in the car under cover of a blanket and i seem to get alot that way. also everytime baby skips a jfeeding make sure that you pump. another great time to pump is first thing in the morning... especialy if your little one is a good sleeper. that is when your breasts will be the fullest. other than that just keep working at it. the more you stimulate your breasts the more milk you will make which will help with the pumping but dont forget to take it with you so that you can pump while you are out or you might regret it later :)

Right now this little bit is enough for baby so that is exactly what you produce.
Express more often and it will increase your supply...and at the same time help you slowly build a bank of milk to use when needed (and you can always freeze this). Express as soon as baby is done nursing so your breasts get the impression that wasn't enough and soon learn to make more.
(I make tons of milk but this is how i did it - by training them!)

Sorry, I didn't really answer your question! Try pumping after you feed in the am and freezing it for later. Or pump on one side while baby nurses on the other. Baby will always be more effective than a pump :) Remeber baby only needs one oz per hour that you are away. You can feed as soon as you pick them up!
