My daughter is 21 months and she is very tall (3ft) She is almost reached height limit on 5 piont harness car seat but not the weight! So do I wait or switch to another? And which one?

That's crazy cuz the 100% for girls at 1.5 years old is only 83cm so she must have been like world record height!

And the 1% for 100cm is 5.5 years old!

Was that's typo?

I know my son is almost 3 and 100cm and he is in the 90% for height so I can't imagine I've ever seen a 1.5 year old that tall.

It's hard to imagine actually.

Big girl!

Yes you always have to weigh each child as an individual and sometimes there's exceptions to the rule.

Sometimes kids throw tantrums in the car and rear facing or front facing and sometimes they just have to pitch a fit in order to stay safe.

But if at all possible, the car seat safety technicians say two years minimum for rearfacing. :)

She was 100cm at 1.5 years which is just a little tiny bit over 39 inches. She hated it and would push her legs against the back of the seat and try to arch up. Even with her legs bent she wasn't settled and comfortable. I guess every kid, seat and car are different, but rear facing may not work for all kids. You do it until you can't do it any more then look for a new option that will still keep your kids safe.

Teresa was your 1.5 year old really taller then 39inches?

Cuz my 39inch tall son fits rear facing beautifully.

The nice thing about legs is they bend!

We had the same problem with height. There was no way our daughter could rear face at 18 months as her legs were too long and she had to scrunch up. It took us ages to find a five point harness seat tall enough to take her. We finally found a safe-n-sound seat that is a car seat/booster. It had a five point harness then as she grew out of that she could use it with just the seat belt. She is nearly 7 and hasn't outgrown the booster. On this one (having just had a crash with the kids in the car), forget the money, get the best seat for the job.

But at 21 months she really should still be rear facing if at all possible.

I have (and love) the Recaro ProSport. It's forward facing only, but you can use the 5 point harness up to 90 lbs. It has different height settings that adjust easily. Both my 14 month old and my 3 1/2 year old use this type of car seat. My 3 1/2 year old is 39 inches tall, and she still has plenty of room to grow and still be in a 5 point harness. I plan to keep her in the 5 point harness as long as I can.... it's safer.

Oh, and it can also be used as a booster up to 120 lbs.

My son is 39 inches and rear facing in a sunshine kids radian car seat.

Keep her rear facing just buy a bigger seat!

Sunshine seats they can be as tall as 52 inches before they outgrow them rear or front facing.

It's a great seat!

Britax models will last your child for a long time and the head rests are adjustable. You can sit her in the seat, harnessed, until she weighs 85 pounds! She can use the seat as a booster till she weighs around 120 pds.!

I agree with Janice. And, in addition, from what I understand, if your daughter's shoulders are above the top slot, it would be time to get another car seat.

My friend has very tall kids and she has the Graco Nautlius. Britax are also a great seat (but a little pricey)

As long as your daughters head is not above the back of the car seat than you can still use it. If the top of her head is level with her car seat than unfortunately you will have to buy a new one.

Graco and Evenflo have carseats that go up to 65lbs and should be tall enough.
