Has anyone ever done the cord blood banking?If so which company and why did you choose that company? A friend of mine is interested but i never used it with my 3 girls.Thanks for any insight!

We banked through Cord Blood Registry, we chose it because after all the research I did, they seemed to me to be the most experienced and I had the worry that in 10- 20 yrs will they still be around and for us I seemed to trust that they will, It seems expensive at first but to me its a great investment and with all the possible uses the cord blood has and may have in the future its worth it!

We did it through Viacord (my husband's company is their parent company so it made for an easy choice). They were really helpful with setting everything up and with the collection process.
I don't know if we have a discounted rate, but we only pay $125 a year for storage.

I got the cordblood banking with the Cord Blood Registry... it's a good investment in my opinion, you can separate the initial fee of 1200 into 6 months, and then the banking itself is like 120 bucks a year, but you'll get coupons and stuff if you request info on it and it'll take a month payment off the 6 months, or one year banking free. It's good for if your baby gets like a head injury, cancer, I also was told (by asking bc I'm sharp with my money) that they're doing studies on spinal cord injuries, or if your child is autistic or mentally retarded, it's supposed to help stimulate the part of the brain for the child to function more normally

i know the OBGYN can help you with your choice, but they cant use your own cord blood on that certain child maybe a sibiling but thats only if they have the same blood type and etc... i just donated mine bc its like 100 a month to keep it in a bank... talk about short on money...lol
