I was wondering what you guys think about the idea of recording birth. Even though I really didn't want to do it the irst time around and I think that hospitals have some strict policies on it, but I regret that I don't have a little movie from the first experience...I feel like I don't remember anything after the baby came out, they didn't even put him on my stomach...This time I'm birthing in the birthing center, and I want to see what I look like with this pain on my face and the moment the baby is born, of course nothing graphic just the right angle :)

Considering that my last labour and delivery was something from 'One Born Every Minute' I wouldn't want to relive those hours again on youtube (private video of course) But I do love all the pictures from after my daughters were born.

Thank you for all the posts. YEs I will definately film it, If we can't I will ask for graphic pictures. I think this will be the best way for me to look back at it and have great memories...

I wish that we had filmed my the births of my sons. At the time it seemed creepy to me, but in retrospect I wish that I had a video of it. Even the gory stuff :) Both of my deliveries were such empowering experiences it would be nice to have a video to go along with my memories. *I had vaginal births in a regular hospital in BC canada and they had no problems with cameras or video cameras.*

I had my second at a birth center as well. It was an AMAZING experience. My midwife didn't care what we did. They even have a professional photographer if you want. They didn't care when/if we used a video recorder. I didn't record during the actual birth, but the pictures from the birth are beautiful. Like Emily, they are just for me and my family. If you want to and your midwife is fine with it then go for it. I don't think you'll regret it.

You will have to check with the policies of where you plan to give birth at. Most places don't allow video taping anymore for legal reasons but will allow cameras. I know what you mean about missing out on your first birth. Both my kids were preemies and with my first everything was an emergency and rushed, I also didn't get to have her on my stomach after or anything. With my second I was in the hospital for 3 weeks before his birth in preterm labor. This time we had the camera there and ready. I was able to have one of the nurses take the pics for us and she got EVERYTHING! which is what I asked for. No one but myself, my husband and our daughter (she's 7) have seen them. I was also able to request that he be placed on my stomach while my husband cut the cord before they handed him off to the NICU staff. It was a much better birth experience this time! Talk to the staff and let them know what you will be comfortable with and if they accidently get something too graphic for you, that's what the delete button is for ;)
