Does anyone else have irregular periods while breastfeeding?

My daughter is 15 months old and I've had maybe 4 or 5 periods since she was born. I wouldn't stress about it. :o)

I jsut didn't want anyone to think that they had gone too long with out feeding their baby if they got their period if they read your post wrong. ;)

I would just like to point out that getting your period while breastfeeding doesn't necessarily mean you went a long time with out nursing.  I exclusively nursed (no supplements or solids) around the clock, on demand for 8 months and then got my period.  Some people nurse the same way and get it after a couple months.  Every woman is different and every nursing experience is different.  Yes, it is true that if you go a while with out nursing it can in fact bring on ovulation which can then bring on period, unless you get pregnant of course! (LOL).  So going with out nursing can cause it but just because you got your period doesn't always mean that you went too long with out nursing.  Some won't get it for years while nursing, others months.  It just depends.

With my son, I had one at 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and then every 6-8 weeks after that until he fully weaned and they went back to the normal 28 days.

my daughter is 11.5 mo old and nursing. i've goten two periods so far. they've been about 6 weeks apart. my periods used to be every 4 weeks and very regular and while breastfeeding have been irregular.

I got my first period when my son was 6 weeks old. And now they seem to be about every 6 weeks or so.

With both of my children I resumed my period at 10mths. After my 1st it was very regualr, but after my 2nd child it was very irregular. anywhere from 4-8wks. If you're not sure you can call your OB and get a blood test to confirm if you are pregnant.

It can vary child top child and mother to mother. Just depends. Even one night of extended nursing can throw things off.
