my daughter was born 2.5 months early and ever since april 5th, i have had trouble getting milk when pumping. the most i get is 20mL total from each breast. i am pumping every 3 hours during the day and also once during the middle of the night. i dont know what im doing wrong. and i was get frustrated with myself. then again having a preemie puts alot of stress on me. please if you have advice or stories similiar to mine please feel free to share. i need some help to whether its the stress or if i can do something for my body to produce more milk. thanks for your time.

stress can temporarily inhibit the let down reflex. but once things stabilize (the initial shock has worn off), then things should be ok.

Are you working with a La Leche League Leader (lll, org) or an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant)? Things can be extra challenging when babies are born premature, especially as early as your daughter. There can be lot's of causes and really a proper evaluation is needed.

What kind of pump are you using? Is your daughter latching at all? How old is she now?

Hang in there mama! Please find someone locally to help you. Either a hospical Lactation Consultant or a La Leche League Leader (FREE!!!!!!) or hiring an IBCLC privately, well worth the expese for a few consults.

How old is your daughter now, and are you still using a hospital grade pump? I have had two preemies and there are many things that can affect your milk supply.
