I am going back to work in January and I want to express milk to send with to daycare. I want to know if I can mix 2 batches of expressed milk i.e the morning and afternoons if the one batch is not enough?

Yes you can mix them... however always let the newly expressed milk cool in the fridge for at least 30 min before mixing them. You can also add chilled milk to already frozen milk as long as amount of milk you are adding is less than what is already frozen in the bag.

I mix two different days sometimes. I always date them though and use the oldest date if I mix them together.

Yes but remember that the milk in the fridge is older and adding in the fresh milk will shorten the lifespan of the new milk, if that makes sense. It is generally a good idea to let the new milk cool down before combining as well (meaning, don't mix hot with cold).

I have done this and have had no problems. I do find it easier though to mix and freeze the milk right away to keep it a little longer.

Hope this helps.

Yes you can mix them to make up a feed. I just think that you don't want to freeze two separate pumpings together because you can to freeze them pretty soon after pumping, but otherwise it's fine to mix them once thawed.
