My son usually wakes up every two to three hours at night to feed, but durring the day he wants to be fed every 45 min's to an hour for 3-4hours before he'll nap. He is just a month old now but I'm not sure I am producing enough milk. After the second feeding I don't hear him swallowing after a few minutes, I assume I have run out of milk for the time being. The next feeding he is usually unsaticfided and fussy. I started feeding him formula to clam him but I'm womdering if there is a way to produce milk faster ( this is a silly question I know) or if there is any other, better, solutions. I have tryed giving him a pasifyer, thinking maybe it was a comfort thing but he will hardly take it.

Not a silly question at all I'ts an issue many of us have. And good on you for sticking with it.Some babies do feed very frequently. Check the basics, are you drinking enough water, is he falling asleep on the breast and using you as a comforter? Babies usually can moderate thier own supply and often feed continuosly if they are growing heaps and your supply will catch up. You can sometimes know when this happens because it is alittle bit longer between feeds and you might feel sore, heavy or embarassingly start leaking! so if he is putting on weight all is good some babies fuss if the flow isn't exactly to thier liking. If you want to encourage milk production the easiest way is NOT TO STRESS not easy I know but it does hamper your milk supply. If you have time try expressing between feeds or use nipple stimulation. But if you are worried see your GP.
All babies are different go with your instincts mothers often do know best.

STOP THE FORMULA. If you truly want to succeed in breastfeeding that is the very first thing you are going to have to do. I looked on your profile and it said your son is only 4 weeks old!. This type of feeding is completely NORMAL. You do NOT have any obvious signs of low supply UNLESS his diaper count is low. Just continue to nurse on demand. Also if this is something that just started, like if he just started to nurse ever 45mins like a couple days ago, then it could be a growth spurt and you need to let him nurse so that your body makes more milk (the more you nurse the more milk you make). You are never TRULY empty. Your body is constantly making milk, therefore even if its only a little bit, there is always milk in your breast. And at 4 weeks getting more than an hour of sleep is a treat! lol. Sorry for going on for so long, but I just wanted to get as much info as possible to you. kellymom.com is a really good very informitive site if you need more! ♥! good luck!
