The other day I was at lunch with some of my friends and one of the gals said "it's just not natural for me to feed like it is for you." I remember how difficult this was in the beginning and now it is natural for me. I am so happy!!!!!

To everyone just starting out it gets better and before you know it you will feel like a pro too!

I had mine at 31 weeks and he didn't even get food for almost 2 weeks. Then they introduced it by feeding tube, worked him up to bottles, then we did breast. He came home on both but I had to pump for another month after he was home because he wasn't strong enough to suck what he needed so I breastfed him, then pumped and bottlefed him what I pumped. I spent over a month with my shirt off and an exhausted baby attached to me and I worked my butt off to keep a supply. I took Fenugreek like candy and Kangarooed for at least 6 hours a day. So, yeah, I really wanted it.

I went through the same type of thing.  I love the taking Fenugreek like candy!!!  I just started doing that again ....  Ahhh... the smell of maple syrup!  :0)  Breast feeding is not easy.  Any mom who has tried knows that.  My daughter is now 4 months and I just now feel like I got the hang of it.  I do believe I really wanted it and that's why it has worked.  A lot of people for what ever reason choose not to continue to breast feed and I understand it is a lot of work.  I am the opposite, I dread the day my daughter no longer wants to breast feed.

Sorry if I upset you.

Congratulations!  I remember what it felt like when I finally got the hang of it :)

Can I just say that I HATE it when moms say things like that or things like "well, mine just wouldn't latch" or "they gave him a bottle at the hospital and he just wouldn't breastfeed after that". I feel that by saying these things they are implying that I didn't have to work at all and that my baby just climbed on and started sucking, everything just falling into place naturally. If you want to formula feed, fine. But just say "I didn't want to breastfeed" instead of making up excuses.

Sorry, apparently this hit a sore spot. But I agree with the first post--it gets better and I feel like a pro, too, with my happy EBF 5 month old!

Good for you! I remember having hard times with each of my children (3 of them). Each time was something different. It's sad that other Mom's miss out on something so special because they don't persevere! Keep it up and enjoy your time with your baby!
