Fighting Thrush/ Yeast problem

Hi. Any tips on how to deal with Thrush/yeast problem? When I first discovered a problem, I went to a lac consultant. I took a pill and used Jack Newman cream for the sore nipples. Then I discovered thrush in my LO's mouth and went to the Dr. Got a cream for me and drops for her. Don't think it went away because like 2 days after she finished her meds, I saw the thrush still. Now she is on a longer dose of meds and I am taking a pill and still using the creams from before. Just getting a little frustrated with it all.

I have used Gentian Violet too. when she was about 5 weeks old. it is messy!

I had to use Diflucan pill once a week for several weeks and take "Yeast Cleanse" by Solaray at the same time. The herbs say not to take while nursing, but I found a site where a PhD specialist said those herbs are indeed safe for nursing. It was only when I did the both it went away. Gentian Violet worked better than nystatin for DD, but the doc mentioned not to use more than once a week or it will burn. It only took one dose though. Beware, it is very messy and stains instantly!

I'll have to see if I can find some. I had a lac consult tell me to use grapefruit seed oil. Hubby looked it up, and said it was really expensive. I don't know if he looked up the right thing though

Yeast can be really tricky to get rid of. My son still has flare ups and we first got it when he was only a few days old. Now he's almost a year. My doctor reccommended genitian violet because he was concerned that we may have yeast that is resistant to the usual forms of treatment. It's a bit tricky to find since it's not used much anymore but apparently it's available over the counter.

I can't remember the first pill, but we are now both taking nystatin. different forms.

what is the name of the pill and what is your daughter on? I had a loooong battle with yeast in me and my son and several things did not work for us. please feel free to add me and I will see if I can help with what I know.
