My girl is 16 weeks old now and i EBF her, its been hard and exausting as im sure you all know. My partner hasnt been fully on board with it which has made it more difficult and if it wasnt for my wonderful, amazing mum i never would of stuck at it. I always knew that i wanted to bf but had a breast reduction 4 years ago and was told i wouldnt be able to so its a miracle in itself that i can, when i started to produce colostrum in my 5th month of pregnancy i cied with joy. The heartbreaking thing for me was that wen my daughter was born she didnt seem to like it, she didnt seem comforted by the breast, never fell asleep on it and fed within 15 mins. In the last week this has all changed, she feeds for a good 25 mins and looks up at me every so often to flash me a cheeky smile which brings a tear to my eye every time, she now falls asleep on the breast and is comforted by it when upset. This is what breastfeeding is all about and i couldnt be happier. I just wanted to share my joy with you all and thank everybody that has helped me over the last 4 months.xxx

Yeah! I'm so very happy for you Michelle.  It's wonderful when you get to that point when they start to give you little smiles and enjoy their feedings.  I'm breastfeeding after a breast reduction as well, and although it's been really difficult, I've also grown to love nursing.  We're still going after 7 1/2 months, and it just keeps getting better (although right now we're adapting to teeth).  I don't know if you've checked out BFAR.org, but they are a fantastic site for women breastfeeding after surgery.  A great supportive forum as well.  I hope your partner comes to understand how important BFing is for your LO.

That's fantastic! I nearly cried reading that (must be my hormones, what with all this breastfeeding - ha ha!). Thank you for sharing your brilliant success story - really uplifting! Does your partner understand why you're so determined to nurse now?

Congratulations :-) I know it can be quite difficult in the first couple of weeks. I also really battled and was very teary everytime I tried to feed her - I also had flat nipples so it took us a couple of weeks to get to know each other and feel comfortable!! It's a wonderful feeling and I'm also glad that I persevered!! As for mothers - they really are great arent' they

Well done Michelle! you stuck at it and you are now seeing what a rewarding experience breastfeeding can be. Enjoy that close bond you have with your daughter now, no-one else will ever be as close as you are to her now and a big pat on the back to you. If you need any further help or advice there is a great new website where you can meet other mums and chat, make friends and ask advice. There are breastfeeding experts who can help you with any problems (if you have any more). I got a really warm welcome when I joined so I'm happy to recommend it to you.
