I was wondering if anyone knows of particular foods that seem may make the baby cranky for nursing or even any foods that should be part of my diet for the baby's wellbeing. I think I am noticing that when I have a lot of ice cream...she gets cranky???

My baby gets cranky everytime I drink soda, eat chocolate, cold cuts, most industrial things or things with caffeine, but thats only if I have it right before or during feeding. If you don't wanna cut out cut out everything you noticed may her cranky, you can eat them in much smaller quantities or right after she feeds and you know for sure she wont wake up to feed again

Thanks guys! For me, too much dairy at once bothers me so I guess it also bothers her since a lot of you mentioned dairy products...I will cut it to a minimum and see!

My baby had colic and it got better after I cut out dairy. Also, I ate broccoli, got gas and my baby who hardly ever has gas was up all night with horrible gas. So yes, just like you said you noticed it when you eat ice cream, I'd watch other dairy and see. Sounds like you've got great instincts already.

That could very well be it. Dairy can be very hard on babies! I needed to limit my dairy while breastfeed for the first 6 months.

I find anything spicey bothers my daughter, she's very cranky and spits up a lot the next day. A good rule to go by is if it bothers you it will bother them.

I had to cut out cow's milk because it made my baby spit up more. I have also avoided broccoli and onions when possible.

When I eat cabbage foods and beans, it gives the baby gas and makes him poop more. I guess things that would make me gassy make him gassy. I just try to eat everything in moderation.

I've heard that cabbage and onion can be a problem but I haven't noticed any change when I eat them.
Also a good idea to cut out caffeine.

I have never had a real problem with anything I ate causing a problem with the baby, All babies are different, of course, and they say to stay away from gassy foods like broccoli and cabbage. If your baby has a problem EVERY time you eat something, I would avoid it, at least for a while.
