It's good for 6m in a deep freeze. I used playtex liners and sealed them with a bag sealer, and placed them in a freezer safe container.

It depends on the type of freezer. If it's a freezer compartment inside of the fridge (same door), I think it's 3 months. Not sure. If it has its own door but a defrost unit, it's good for 3-6 months. If it's a freezer kept at a constant 0C, it's good for a year. I had a medical freezer that kept things at 0C. It was great.

Fresh pumped milk is good at

room temp for 4 hrs

in the fridge for 6-7 days

in the fridge-freezer (not on the door) for 6 months

in the deep freeze for 1 year

Thawed Breast milk must be used within 24hrs of thawing (must be kept in fridge)

These are the LLL guidelines here in Canada.

I believe it is 3 months in a regular freezer and 6 months in a deep freezer

Most of the guidelines I've read about are 4-4-4, 4 months in the freezer, 4 days in the fridge, and 4 hrs at room temp. This is according to daycare guidlelines in PA and WIC. Hope this helps. Also make sure you date it so you remember which is the oldest. Good Luck!

4 months in the freezer, 4 days thawed in the fridge and 4 hours out in the open. That's what I was told 2 years ago with my daughter and just this past May when my son was born. Whatever you do, just don't keep it in the door, it will spoil faster!

My lac consultant has always told me 6 months in a freezer that is attached to a fridge [like in your house] 1 year in a deep freeze

I use the Lanisoh bags and follow the recomendations included with them. If you are freezing a lot, I would recomend getting a storage unit. I babies-r-us carries one that allows you to put bags in an upright bin. If you can't find it, let me know & I can get the name off mine. I will say, the longest I have stored milk is about 4 weeks... And I put that in the back of my freezer.

I have always heard 3 mos. but most milk storage bag packages have a whole guide for all storage types. 3 mos. has worked for all my kids using it for day care while I pumped in the daytime.

www.lalechelleague.org is a good referance. I am using Lansinoh breast milk storage bags and they have information w/ the packaging.

Hi

I am about to start expresing and freezing, and have found som really good guidelines on the Babycentre website if you want to check that out.

It seems to vary according to what type of freezer you will be using, what you are using to store it in (glass is best for long periods of time) and who you are expressing for (for example a premature baby).

I won't repeat it all here as you can read it yourself by going to their website direct. Haven'e actually started yet, but I'll be looking there for myself!

Good Luck
