With my first son I was left with 10kg extra after the birth, but lost it and 2 more by the time he was 7 months old. This while eating like a pig. I was constantly hungry and had chocolate everyday and went through peanut butter and nuts at an alarming speed. With my daughter I only had 3kg to lose and was sure it was going to be easy as pie, but instead of loosing I gained 2kg in the first 5 months and now at 11 months are still stuck with 2kg to go. I never was very hungry this time round and really eat very little. I've come to notice that the less sleep I get the harder I struggle with my weight.
Now my question is: Is it just harder to loose weight second time round or does the gender of your baby make a difference? I've heard women expecting boys gain more weight (which turned out to be true for me), but do they also loose it easier while breastfeeding?
