My 2 month old receives breastmilk via bottle, he has reflux and recently became very colic. I got some gripe water gave it to him and it seemed to do the trick. Can I give it to him in his bottle with the Breastmilk or is it better to give it before a feeding or after a feeding? Any advie would be great. Thanks!

We used Gripe Water and it worked wonders. I always gave it to my little guy right before feeding though. As Emma stated below, it will change the flavor of the milk. I nursed him though and didn't bottle feed so my options were pretty limited in regards to how to get it in him. This phase passes pretty quickly. I think we gave him Gripe for a few months then he was doing okay without it.

I love milk products!!! My doc told me the same thing I tried it and it made no difference :( I was glad too /i missed my milk ;) The gripe water is working great. He doesn't take it everyday and when he does take it I only have to give it to him once and not even a full dose :)

My daugter were also a colic baby and I breastfed... A doctor told me to remove all milk related products from my dieet. It was tough, but immediately made an difference

You shouldn't mix gripe water into breastmilk, as it will change the taste of the milk and could possibly make her want to have gripe water all the time with her milk. If you are looking for something to add to the milk to help with gas, cramps etc I would recommed anti gas drops. You can buy either Oval Drops, Lil Tummies; both work great. But you don't put them into every bottle, Oval drops is a max of 1.25ml per day (you can do 5 doses) and Lil Tummies is 3 times per day. These do not change the taste of the milk as it is a small amount you add to a bottle after it has been warmed and stirred. As for gripe water, you can give them gripe water at any point during the day, before or after a feeding.

For my son, when he was going through colic had gripe water just before his colic time started, and that really helped him during the crying fits and then during the day we would give him Oval drops after a feeding. It really helped reduce the amount of gas he was getting and the gripe water helped settle down his upset tummy. If you are going to use both, just a word of warning, do not piggy back gripe water and oval drops as they will end up making your son poo quite quickly. Try and make sure there is at least 30 minutes between the two, to minimize upsetting your little one.

I'm not sure about the relux, but my son was a bit colic-y and I would give him the gripe water just before he bfed. I'm not sure if giving it in a bottle would be the best choice, unless he really likes the flavor lol. My son is 3 now and his favorite thing in the whole world is black licorice!

this is my opinion but my daughter had colic and reflux too, It always worked better for be to give the antigas or gripe water BEFORE feeding her. It seemed to make her feel more comfortable afterwads than if i mixed them together. Although the colic and reflux together never seem to make a baby completly happy until they are a litle older. Hang in there though!! ;)
