Hair falling out....when does it stop!

So, my hormones are finally coming into balance and now my hair that was so thick and shiny during pregnancy is falling out by the handfuls. If I didn't know it was normal, I'd panic, but I would like to know when it's going to stop. I'd like to have some hair left over after this.

My hair is long (to my shoulder blades) and I was thinking about getting it cut to my shoulders or a little shorter. Does anyone think this will help my hair look fuller at all.

In other words, I need to know when the hair loss will slow down to a normal pace and any tips you may have on hair styles that will allow my hair to look fuller.

Thanks ya'll!

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.  I won't panic now, but I'm going to get my hair cut just to try and compensate for the hair loss.  I need a new style anyway.

I'm also worried that when my hair grows back it's going to come in gray.  I have a few more gray hairs than I did while pregnant, so......  Anyone know a good organic way to cover gray????

Hi Jodie, I had my son in September also.  I hope it stops soon.

mine took quite a while to stop falling out - 6 months or so. I had to clean the drain after every shower!

Good luck!

My hair is falling out, too! The hard part for me is that it is in the front, I hate hair loss with the first baby as well. I went to the dermatologist and got shots and a topical treatment then. It either helped, or my hair got better anyway. I am waiting it out this time, b/c I keep reading that it doesn't need to be treated. I was thinking of cutting my shorter, too,

My hair loss just slowed down at the beginning of January.  It still falls out, but closer to the normal amount anyone with long hair has.  So it took about 5 months for me.
