I am breastfeeding my 17 week old baby and I notice a really big difference in my weight...I am gaining....I thought when you breastfeed it's supposed to help keep your weight down? I don't find that I am eating much more then I used to. Has anyone gone through this too?

I haven't really gained...but I am super bloated. I have lots of water weight...I have lost a little bit of weight, I can tell because of my clothes, but as far as the scale goes, not a HUGE weight loss so far. My rings are very tight, which I am sure is because of bloating.

I am not one of those fortunates, and you KNOW WHO YOU ARE, that look wonderful right after having a baby. In my experience, when my babies are about 9 months to a year old is when I find my body is back. I have to work out religiously and eat REALLY GOOD to do this too, not one of those blessed with a high metabolism.

Keep on breastfeeding and it WILL happen just be patient, and enjoy this time with your baby...you will have your body back soon enough...and I will be right there with you...my daughter is about 19 weeks old...

So many people said I would lose weight with breastfeeding. I found that true for the first 6 weeks. I lost all my pregnancy weight, but within the next 3 months I found that I was putting it back on despite not changing a thing in my diet. Everyone then started saying I'd lose weight chasing her down when she started crawling, then walking. I can only suggest to get as much exercise as you can that doesn't involve the baby and drink lots of water.

I lost weight at his birth, but have since gained it all back. I'm starved all the time. Most of my regular pants don't fit yet.

I ALWAYS gain weight breastfeeding. In fact, my cravings are worse when I'm nursing than when I'm pregnant! Remember it takes an extra 300 calories to sustain pregnancy, but an extra 500 calories a day to sustain nursing. For some that means easier weight loss... for others, it means more hunger. :)

SNAP! I am still bf my 8.5 month old daughter and I haveput on more weight than I did when pregnant. Granted I had a muffin a day for 5 months but I have stopped that now and it just ain't shifting. I was also eating alot more as I found I was constantly hungry, especially in the beginning. I have heard from older mums who bf their children that once you stop bf, you will regain your pre-pregnancy shape...
