It feels like my 5 week old is tickling the end of my nipple with his tongue. It is really uncomfortable. I know it is not a letdown b/c it happens near the end when my breast is squishy. Help please. :)

This happened to me too, and actually, I felt positively about it. The baby's favorite pacifier at this point should be your breast, it helps to soothe and for bonding. If he's playing with your nipple try to think of it as part of the bonding process.

Also something to think about. Every time you breastfeed hormones (such as serotonin) that help you to get over the 'baby blues' and regulate your mood are released. I'm not sure if this would cause the tickling sensation, but it's not outside the realm of possibility - like when the nipple is stimulated sexually.

I don't think it's something you can prevent or train your baby not to do, and I believe that it is a ultimately a positive thing for you and your baby. The main thing I would suggest is to try to associate this sensation with something positive, and perhaps this can turn into an emotional benefit for you as well.

I hope this is helpful, and good luck!
