They say that whatever sickness or whatever you body is going through to still go ahead and breastfeed that way your baby will have a little bit of what you have and their body will start to get fight it off and become stronger by it. Which makes sense really... Hope you feel better!!

I have a 4 month old who has pneumonia (exclusively breastfed). After his diagnosis I went to get checked as we were both sick and I too had it. Did I give it to my baby and should I get rid of breastmilk I've stored while being sick? This is my 4th breastfed baby and never had anything like this happen.

As long as any medication the doctor has given you has ok to breastfeed with (lots of antibiotics are) there is absolutely no reason to stop. You will know if you are not well and don't feel up to it which would be the only reason not to. I had Norwalk (the diarrhoea and vomiting bug) and fed Kez when she was 4 months old no problems and the advantage is they are getting your antibodies so being protected against it. Just make sure you are drinking plenty if you are hot, eat what you fancy a few days off your food will not effect your milk.

I have! It's completely fine. I also had it twice while I was pregnant including when I delivered. I used to get it chronically but then I got the pneumonia vaccine that protects against 23 different types of pneumonia. If this is something that is reoccuring for you, then you should definately look into it. I also got the vaccine while I was breastfeeding. That was over a year ago and I haven't been sick since.
